About
My name is Kaleo Kala and this is my Workshop. I grew up around wood. My father was a cabinet maker and his father was a Carver. So I guess you could say that woodworking is in my blood. I can remember working with my Dad in his workshop growing up, making all kinds of pieces.
That influence stuck with as I got older. I started with furniture repair and antique restorations. But I quickly grew tired of constantly fixing things and not creating thing. That is what lead me to The Australian School of Fine Furniture.
There I studied for 2 years, learning traditional building techniques, furniture design and other essential furniture making skills. Having the chance to study over the watchful eyes of some of the best furniture makers in Australia, I was able to gain insights that otherwise I would not have had.
Now I am attempting to use this knowledge to embark on a career of building beautiful yet functional pieces of furniture. Hopefully I will be able to impart some tips and tricks that I have learned and the ones that I have yet to learn with all of you.
Enjoy the ride…
